Discover Wonderful Las Vegas Landscapers

By Debrah Langston

Landscapers and other experts also developed and carried out new and innovative irrigation techniques, as well as new ways of collecting water. One such process involves the use of rain barrels to capture run off from houses and other buildings. Water can be collected in these barrels, and then stored until it is needed to be used.

Experts have come up with various different ways to combat this problem over the years. One way is to use extensive amounts of irrigation. While this results in a beautiful, well maintained landscape, this causes problems of its own. Las Vegas is in the middle of the desert and is hundreds of miles away from any viable source of water. In order for landscaping to remain lush and vibrant through use of irrigation, water has to be piped in from sources several states away.

This causes a large drain on both the environmental and financial resources of Nevada. Las Vegas has a very large population and is popular tourist destination. The residents and visitors already create a high demand for water that already pushes the limits of what the city is able to provide. Relying on irrigation for landscaping taxes local natural and economic resources much more than is necessary.

Owners of resorts and other people who have created large, beautiful landscapes in Las Vegas have also trucked in water or created man made ponds. These extensive, large scale landscaping projects are often beautiful, but highly expensive to maintain. Some developers trucked water in from locations far across the country.

Another common technique in landscaping desert areas like Las Vegas is a technique known as hard landscaping. Hard landscaping refers to using ponds, rock gardens, shade areas and other non-living matter as part of a landscaped yard. These types of elements are low maintenance, and add to the beauty of the land.
