Keeping Money In Your Bank Account When You Decorate

By Al Zamora

Moving to a new house is a great chance to homeowners to switch to a new decorating scheme! Decorating a new space can be fun and exciting. Of course, many people are intimidated by the cost and size of a home decorating process. You will be happy to learn that there are quite a lot of ways to create a nice, friendly vibe to your house without having to spend your entire bank account. Your bank account can absolutely survive your latest decorating scheme. Are you looking for ways to decorate without spending all of your hard earned money? This article has tips to help you out.

You don't have to decorate exclusively from super expensive galleries and art shows. It isn't important that you get a bunch of original art work right away. Instead look for prints of your favorite works of art. Original art is more expensive than prints. Prints are more affordable and they are easier to get home. Prints are usually made in standard sizes which makes the framing of them easy-you can even do the framing yourself. Frame the print yourself by buying a frame from a sale rack-this saves you money on the frame and the act of putting the print inside of it. Going to the frame shop is something you can do in your own time-you don't have to worry about working around a professional framer's schedule and, if you buy the frame on sale, you can save quite a lot of money!

Don't be scared to check the dumpster! Do you often see people moving into and out of your area of town? Take some time to visit the curbs and dumpsters in your neighborhood if this is the case. Many people get desperate at moving time and will toss out beautiful decorative items and furnishings in the interest of saving space in the moving van. It might seem unrealistic but it is possible to create a decorating scheme and to furnish your home using only "found" things. Take time to make sure that the items you find on a curbside are really being thrown away and not waiting to be picked up for something. Quickly checking with the homeowners is all you need to do.

Dumpsters can be gold mines at the right times of the month and year. Do you live in a part of town with a high turnover? Are the people in your neighborhood or apartment complex constantly moving in and out? Make a habit of wandering through a few times a month. You will be amazed by the sheer amount of stuff people will throw away at the last minute just because it won't fit into a moving van. Don't turn up your nose, it is possible to furnish your whole apartment using only the things that you "find" during a trip around the neighborhood. Take time to make sure that the items you find on a curbside are really being thrown away and not waiting to be picked up for something. Simply ask the current home owners if they would mind your taking what has been placed curbside.

You probably have a lot of knick knacks and dust catchers and other decorative gifts that people have given you. We all have a few decorative items that we keep hidden away and only display when the person who gave them to us comes over. Have you thought about just leaving them out? There is no law that says you have to keep them displayed for all eternity but it is a nice (and free!) way to decorate your home while you save up for the more expensive things that you've been looking at. This way you won't have to quickly locate the items that your great aunt gave you when she shows up unaccounced on your doorstep and wants to come in to visit with you. So many families get caught up in the idea that expensive is the same as good when that simply is not the case. Decorating ideas are everywhere-just look at the homes of your friends. "I can make this happen for way less money" is a good mindset to have when you see a decorating scheme you like. Home decorating does not have to cost lots of money. Believe it or not the cost of decorating can be zero dollars!
