People can tell their neighbors and others about themselves through landscape design. People who wish to inform their area about their talents, preferences, and individual tastes can do so by planting preferred varieties of flowers, trees, and other vegetation. They also might express themselves through their lawn's ornaments, such as religious statues or bird baths.

Homeowners who like flowers and floral scents may plant several flower beds throughout their lawns. Popular places for a flower bed include along sidewalks and in front of the house. These spots prove popular because it draws attention to the home and gives the property an appealing look.

Some people may also put flowers in pots and in window sill boxes. Such boxes hang below a home's windows and the people within are able to water the plants through the raised window. Pots in the yard can be moved to allow the plants plenty of sunshine and to change the look of the yard if desired.

Along with potted plants, a person may choose to plant trees. The kinds of trees that will survive in a yard depend on the home's geographical location. Some tree varieties survive better in warmer climates and others in colder climates. Trees can bear fruit for harvesting and they also invite creatures to make their home within the branches.

Along with plants and trees, homeowners can show their decorative tastes by placing ornaments on their properties. Some individuals prefer to put bird baths in their yards to invite wildlife into the area. Other families, particularly if they are religious, adorn their lawns with statues of saints and angels to signify their devotion to their faith.

Landscape design is a tool utilized by many property owners that allows them to keep their yards well maintained while at the same time conveying their personalities and tastes to others in the neighborhood. They might plan various plants and put ornamental items on their lawns to make their homes look better.
